My dear friend Markus hit me up on a Sunday night asking if I want to join him and another friend of ours Elli on a spontaneous trip to Amsterdam for a few days. Without thinking long about it I wrote him back hell yes. But we would have to wait till Tuesday because at that time I was helping out my relatives building their terrace and they needed me till Tuesdays.
On Monday night we booked the flight, which was probably the best choice of travel since there were still a lot of highways closed in Germany, due to heavy rain and floodings.
I got home on Tuesday at 3 pm, quickly packed my stuff, and headed to the train at 4 pm. From Salzburg Main Train Station my friends picked me up we drove to Vienna. We got there in the fastest time possible. I think we drove there in like 2 hours 30 minutes, which is nuts.
In Vienna, we met with Markus' sister where we'd spend the night because our flight starts at like 8 am. We arrive at the airport at 7 am and luckily we did the check-in online so we go in and 30 minutes later already sat on the airplane.
At 10 am we arrived at our Airbnb called the Attic Monkeys Lodge. It is located like ten minutes from the center, the style of the apartment was funny and cozy and I can definitely recommend it to anybody who needs a place to stay in Amsterdam.
After we asked for some recommendations from our host Joris we headed to a lovely breakfast spot and planned our trip.
Reflecting on the whole experience I have to say:
Amsterdam is a city where I could see myself living.
